The INS has created a decentralized network of comprehensive health services, which currently consists of 30 medical clinics distributed throughout a large part of the national territory.

The objective of the Clinics is to provide inmediate medical care, close to the home or workplace of the insured, avoiding traveling to other population centers.

The dispensaries are in: Alajuela, Batán, Cañas, Cariari, Carmen de Siquirres, Cartago, Ciudad Neily, Ciudad Quesada, Cóbano, Desamparados, Grecia, Guadalupe, Guápiles, Heredia, La Isla en Limón, Liberia, Limón, Nicoya, Pital de San Carlos, Puerto Viejo de Sarapiquí, Puntarenas, Quepos, San Antonio de Belén, San Isidro, San Marcos deTarrazú, San Ramón, Santa Ana, Siquirres, Sixaola, and Turrialba.

All centers offer general medicine, nursing and pharmacy services; some of them are prepared to provide medical assistance in orthopedics, radiology, physical therapy and others.

Hours of operation are from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., with the exception of the Bataán Centers, whose hours are from 7 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. (Monday to Thursday) and 7 a.m.to 3 p.m. (on Friday).

In addition, the INS has extensive facilities at the INS Salud Medical Complex, located in La Uruca, in which hospitalization and rehabilitation services are provided, in addition to outpatient services. There is also a shelter for those who receive rehabilitation treatments and come from remote places out of the Central Valley.
